A grey, hazy warming day
The past two evenings I've been very fortunate and very happy to have received the gift of attendance at two strong performances with Simone, my Cinnamon Girl, tEituR and his band of very supportive traveling musicians in concert with Helgi Hrafn Jónsson, Old Springs Pike (and roadies). The first evening Tuesday 29 April at Jammin Java offered room to move your feet and was my introduction to Helgi and to Old Springs Pike.
Helgi opened (and later played trombone and guitar with tEituR) with an acoustic set. He is an intelligent, engaging musician with a keen sense of humor, not lost on inhabitants on the West side of the Pond (Atlantic Ocean).

Following Helgi, who hails from Iceland, Old Springs Pike hopped on both feet (all six, actually) and did the good thing with their instruments and voices, to the audiences' ears and ambience.

Last evening Wednesday 30 April, we rolled on down the road again after work to Annapolis. The Rams Head Tavern is a very good venue in intimate surroundings for live music. Many notables have performed there. I've seen and heard tEituR at both venues a number of times over the past few years, since discovering his music and musings. This second performance, primarily consisting of the entirety of his very new release, "The Singer" affirmed my impression from the Tuesday performance, and a welcome one, this new music needs more than passive attention from an audience. It grows on you and is best savored as a live performance. It goes quite a way in re-affirming the merit and worth of album releases as a whole, an entirety, rather than as a collection of tracks. This reminds me of the days particularly in the sixties and seventies and the vinyl LP records released created as bodies of work rather than separate pieces.

Simone and Teitur
Two long days of work and round trip driving were offset in carbon life form credits by the energy of both evenings' performances.
Even better, with tEituR's kind and generous permission and Old Spring Pike's blessing, too, as soon as time allows, I will be including some of their music to accompany your viewing pleasure when strolling through the galleries of my imagery. Both tEituR's and Old Springs Pike's music offers sounds which feel in accord to the images on display. Thank you, thank you, thank you! How cool is that?
