I support charities and worthwhile causes locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. It feels good. My favorite charity, if I could select only one to support, is the one nearest and dearest to my own heart. I am very passionate about this. Our daughter and our sons' sister, Charas, at the age of 17 was a senior at Smithsburg High School in 1997 when she flew from this world.
Sometimes one can do everything right and still...
She has touched and continues to touch many lives in a myriad of ways. Others have lived on, lived better, because of the gifts of her life. Charas is an integral element of the "quality control" in my life and what I do. I am a better person for having her in my life, if only for a little while. She is honored and remembered by many people. The invitational spring track and field meet hosted by Smithsburg High School is but one example.
In honor of her memory, awards have been made for the past eleven years to graduating seniors of Smithsburg High School. Support has come from contributions by family, friends and academic groups. The Charas Heurich Memorial Fund as of 2009 is formally part of and administered by the Community Foundation of Washington County Maryland, Inc.
I would love it if you could help this fund grow to become a self-sustaining benefit to many lives, in perpetuity. Outright contributions are always welcome. Contributions are tax deductible.
However, from now through to the twelfth anniversary of her passing on 17 November 2009, when you make a contribution of $100.00 or more by check made payable directly to the Charas Heurich Memorial Fund, you will receive a certificate you may use for yourself or give to someone else for a portrait session with me at Heurich Photography. Currently, my normal session fee is $150.00. For those who choose to schedule with me in this 2009 calendar year, with a portrait order of $350.00 or more you will also receive an additional complimentary gift portrait.
This certificate for a portrait session may be used at anytime. It expires only after I draw my final breath.
I hope the Charas Heurich Memorial Fund and the paths it shines light upon becomes a favorite of yours, too.
Life is precious.
Each day is a gift.
